The elite Sayeret Matkal unit is the IDF's most prized Special Forces unit.
;In order to be selected as a solider of this heroic unit, one must be strong and fearless, both physically and mentally. Soldiers must undergo months of infantry training as well as parachute training and special courses in counter terrorism.
Past soldiers of this elite and prestigious unit include former Prime Minister Ehoud Barak and current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The unit’s primary function is to penetrate enemy lines to gather crucial intelligence so as to give the IDF the strategic upper-hand in combat situations. Sayeret Matkal's most reknown mission was Operation Entebbe, rescuing over 100 hostages from the Airport in Entebbe , Uganda.
